Opened in 1988, the Port of Halluin extends over about twenty hectares along the border between France and Belgium. It is dedicated to the industrial activity, with an important center of the Galloo Company, which recovers and develops metals, and the Gallo Plastique Company that makes the same for the plastic materials. Since 2003, a container terminal (HCT Hallium ContainersTerminal) operates in this port, offering the northern companies of Lille Metropole new alternatives other than the route transport, thanks to the river connections with the maritime ports of the North Sea. |
